Recent years have seen massive changes in the geopolitical landscape of the Red Sea arena. Security and stability in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and the Mediterranean are increasingly linked by trade and transit dependencies as well as regional competition for dominance and influence. This is fueling greater militarization across the Red Sea and driving greater instability and insecurity in an already fragile and conflict-prone region.
Susan Stigant, and Michael Woldemariam will join Victoria K. Holt in conversation to explore the complex transregional dynamics and their implications on global trade and security and the U.S. interests at stake. Susan Stigant: Expert on U.S.-Africa strategy and African affairs Michael Woldemariam: Associate Professor in Public Policy at the University of Maryland, College Park.
