My Voice, My Story
The Special Needs Support Center is pleased to announce that our Art Lab participants will have an exhibition at AVA Gallery! The exhibition My Voice, My Story will be on view from October 11-November 9 in the Linda Roesch Visual Arts Gallery at AVA Gallery and Art Center. Please join us for an informal gathering on Friday, November 8, 5-6 pm.
The My Voice, My Story exhibition has just finished a three-month stint at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and has now moved to the Linda Roesch Visual Arts Gallery at AVA Gallery and Art Center. Art Lab is a seasonal collaboration between AVA Gallery and the Special Needs Support Center (SNSC) that focuses on introducing our participants to the world of art. The exhibition will include 28 visual artists and 50-60 pieces of artwork made through the Art Lab program.
My Voice, My Story: pushes past the frequent invisibility of disability and challenges how the public sees disabled voices. Collectively, it is a story about disability, identity, and belonging from people who live disabled culture. My Voice, My Story creates new ideas of disability, seeing into the inner world of those who are stigmatized or pitied and allowing the artists to stand, for a brief moment, and be seen as humans with thoughts and beliefs, feelings and emotions, loves and aversions.
