In New York, nations just wrapped up speeches at the 80th UN General Assembly's opening — and the first two delivered by President Lula da Silva of Brazil and President Trump of the United States. U.S. Secretary of State Rubio took his first official trip to Central America and the Caribbean. The United Nations is active across Latin America and the Caribbean, in Haiti and Colombia, among others. What is the view from the Americas and the UN about the renewed U.S. focus and diplomacy in the region and in multilateral fora? How is the US looking to work with nations in the region and with what goals?
