The Upper Valley Documentary Club meets for this month’s Third Thursday, on November 21st from 7-8:30pm. We’ll be getting together at the Bugbee Center across the street this time, as opposed to our normal meeting spot in the Co-op Classroom, for a special screening of a new film created by a local filmmaker-educator Gregg Stott of Hanover High School - The Last Ice: Glacial Lake Hitchcock.
The Last Ice explores how Vermont and neighboring states were gradually molded and sculpted into the multitude of peaks and valleys that now host some of America’s favorite ski slopes, mountain bike trails, mushroom hunting fern gullies, leaf-peeping vistas - and all of the other diverse geological nuances that scaffold and frame the daily lives of New Englanders.
As usual for Documentary Club, you’re invited to bring all of your questions and curiosities and passion and prior knowledge to the conversation. We’ll have Mr Stott present to answer questions about the documentary’s content and the filmmaking process (we don’t often have the filmmaker present to talk about the film!). But with that said, half the fun of Documentary Club is hearing from all of the different perspectives that participants bring to the conversation - so we hope you’ll consider joining us and adding your voice to this growing little community. This month’s Documentary Club is being co-hosted with our local Upper Valley Land Trust, so you can also look forward to connecting with their wonderful team during the evening discussion.
We’d love to have you join our growing community for this month’s screening and discussion. To stay up-to-date with Documentary Club news and our crowd-sourced movie recommendations, send a note to Info@UpperValleyFood.Coop to join the club email list!
Hope to see you there
Best wishes,
the UVFC team
