Dancing at Lughnasa

"Dancing at Lughnasa" is a Tony-winning memory play set in rural Ireland told through the perspective of Michael, recalling the summer of 1936 when he was seven and being raised by his unwed mother Chris and four aunts, Kate, Maggie, Agnes, & Rose. It is a summer of change, as Michael’s father, Gerry, visits for the first time Michael can remember. Uncle Jack, a missionary priest who worked for 25 years in Uganda, is also unexpectedly sent home. The upcoming pagan festival of Lughnasa and a new-fangled radio that inspires spontaneous dancing among his aunts and mother, foretell more change barreling towards this poor but lively rural family with deep traditional roots. Join us amongst the old farm buildings of King Farm to experience Dancing at Lughnasa!
